The Crest Hotel

A rather ugly hotel slap-bang in the middle of a highway and a big shopping mall, but the bistro is high up in a glassed-in atrium looking over a distant suburban vista. New owners and a new chef are changing the small menu of pub classic grills, burgers, chicken and pasta, starting with the specials board. A crispy-skin Atlantic salmon was cooked to perfect blush, with a chardonnay reduction and creamy garden pea risotto creating a wonderful combination, while the organic pork cutlets with burnt-sugar orange glaze were eye-rollingly amazing, and arrived with a perfectly composed sweet potato mash.
