The Croft Institute Article Lead - narrow

A contender for the Most Obscure Laneway Bar crown, the Croft Institute is stashed down not one but two detritus-strewn alleys. Downstairs is a dream of mint and cream tiles and laboratory equipment jostling for space with a stellar range of spirits. A vast cocktail list contains classics-with-a twist and exciting new concoctions such as the Pomegranate Sour, which have been scientifically tested on humans, the results justifying whatever cruelty that may have entailed. Bar staff are charming and clever, the toilets use lab-cleansing apparatus for basins, and at weekends the upstairs 'gymnasium' hosts club nights and DJs.
