The Darlo Village Hotel

Contemporary$$

The East Village underwent a sudden change of management (and name) in late July but still has its mouth-watering menu and that cosy, candlelit corner pub feel. From the tin ceilings down to the selection of ales, it’s easy to see why it’s popular for partying locals. There’s the same British pub fare that put it on the map, though the duck liver pâté is on the sweet side and the pig’s head fritters are seriously stodgy. Stick to the hand-cut chips for starters, or head straight to the mains: melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek and bone marrow pie (baked with bone in) or the truffle-scented pumpkin, chestnut and taleggio cheese risotto.
