The Eastern Hotel

Good Food hatGood Food hat16/20

While the Eastern may have a bit of a reputation as a rowdy nightspot, a relaxed pub-like atmosphere reigns during the day and afternoon. Its 'famous' $10 rump steak is worthy of the name, beautifully cooked and complemented by the mushroom sauce. A Thai beef salad went down a treat, the rare beef seasoned with just enough chilli and Thai dressing. The only let-down was the salt-and-pepper squid, content to be average amid the high quality of the rest of the meal. The Coopers Pale Ale-battered barramundi fillet is only $16 and more than enough to leave both you and your wallet satisfied.
