The Fish Shop

Seafood$$

The ditzy nautical interior is more washout than whitewash, but a sparkling seafood menu from Jeremy Strode succeeds where the fit-out doesn’t. Cuttlefish is tender and buttery with a garlic and chilli bite. The batter on the fish in classic fish ’n’ chips is crisp, crunchy and mercifully oil-free, while the fish itself flakes beautifully. Fat chips display the requisite crunch yielding to a soft, fluffy interior, and the tartare is excellent. Even the crumbed fish burger with bacon and chilli is a stand-out. You’ll feel like building sandcastles and throwing a line into the harbour.
