The Golden Sheaf Hotel

Contemporary$$

A local institution, the Sheaf seems to cater for everyone from suits to young and trendy eastern suburbs after-workers. Pretty much anything on the menu in the bistro is good, though the crisp-skinned salmon with soba noodles, soy and sesame, the pappardelle with lamb ragout and the stone-baked coq au vin are all worth a special mention. Desserts and single origin organic coffee are a nice touch, and a young, professional crew in the kitchen makes this a slick and personable operation. Pub food doesn’t get much better.
