The Grand Hotel

14/20

You might feel like shouting, 'Ahoy me hearties!' when you enter this cosy bistro - what with a pirate mobile and rope coiled around bannisters. But it has style, with a colourful leadlight window, antique couches, pressed metal ceilings and dusty old books behind the bar. The historic pub offers straight-up Aussie fare - big burgers and chips, lamb bangers and mash, fish and chips - which comes quickly and in generous serves. Our spiced buffalo wings with a side of lemon and parsley mayo were moist and tubby, the prawn linguini tossed in chilli and basil was acceptable and the Grand Angus beef burger a perfect fit.
