Modern Australian$$
The wait can be a downer but this ‘con’ is countered by a list of ‘pros’ far longer than the eager daily queues. In the shady outdoor courtyard with its vegie patch, kids’ cubby, pet pig and mini produce market, a hut sells barbecue and burgers. Indoors, an army of friendly staff buzzes about the cavernous cafe. Everywhere you look is a magazine photo shoot ready and waiting, including on the plate: house-cured ocean trout and gribiche eggs; sweet pea fritters with poached eggs; corn and cheese tostadas; divine choc-caramel mousse. Classes and community events are bonuses, and there are plans to open for dinner.
