This neglected Marrickville icon has been given a stunning refit that combines cool quirks – the old pokies room is now a pinnie parlour, a vertical garden out the back – with a great all-day menu. Their take on the pub standard roast lamb dinner is a wonderful array of roasted vegies next to some beautifully pan roasted lamb shoulder, finished with a delicate gravy. The panko-crumbed fried snapper is well executed, with aside of crisp chips with fluffy innards. With a large, kid-friendly courtyard, a busy dining room and a front bar jus tfit for a post-Newtown Jets game beer,this local beauty has something for the whole community.
