'White peaches roasted with vanilla and cassia on French toast with whipped ricotta, black chia seeds and honey'. Is it just us, or does that sound beautiful? It's par for the course at the family-run Jack & Jude, tucked inside an Engadine arcade. There seems to be an endless supply of talented Hart family children, either air-roasting the coffee, running Left Bower in Sutherland, working the floor and baking the charming cakes, while dad John is in the kitchen or at the local growers' market. The beans are proudly Australian, and a piccolo ($3.50) made with Country Valley milk is bold and spirited and full of flavour. Just like those peaches.
