Owner Jason Coats has brought elements of a Balinese resort to the South Bank's most recent (and most dazzling) precinct. There's a sea of Indonesian teak furniture, including cushioned bench that convert to sun lounges, where you can take in the extraordinary vista over a stretch of lawn to the Brisbane River. At night the river shimmers with CBD lights. Really, they could serve mud pies and you'd still be tempted to visit. Happily, mud pies are not on the menu. What it does offer is a large number of dishes designed for a wide demographic. Perfectly executed nasi goreng (the egg still runny and the rice given complexity with sauteed onion a whisker short of caramelising); ricepaper rolls filled with barbecued peppered squid, a fresh array of herb and vegetable and a tangy nahm jim. There's also pizza, steak and pasta. It's easy fare matched by a formidable array of cocktails and spirits and a serious wine list, both of which provide fine inspiration to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon.
