Cafe$$

How fresh do you like your salad greens? The Pantry grows its own and the sprightly leaves adorn already bountiful breakfasts. A thick wodge of cornbread French toast is a fine vehicle for grilled tomatoes and glistening herb-scented sausages, and poached eggs sit atop generous layers of smoked salmon, roesti (maybe a tad oily) and dill-spiked creme fraiche. Daily changing desserts are delightful: frangipane tart topped with silky rhubarb 'caramel'. Service is sunny despite rather frantic weekends, and with every nook in the tiny cafe-cum-corner store crammed with teas, take-home meals and even soap, you're lucky if it's your local.
