The Lennox Hotel

Contemporary$$$

The views from this balcony are so good and the atmosphere so upmarket that you might expect attitude from the staff. But the service is friendly and, while mains reach $79 (grain-fed fillet wagyu), there’s also a pub-style selection from$20 to $32. The oil-and-salt-crusted panino is oily and crisp, but an angus pure fillet burger is served as blue as the waves over the road: apologies are sincere and a new and improved burger is conjured with no fuss. The beer battered fish with fries is how good pub fish and chips should be and, refreshingly, these are meals made for standard-sized people, not sumo wrestlers.
