The Milk Bar by Cafe Ish

While this joint harks back to the golden age of the milk bar, complete with burgers, jukebox, lolly counter and even chiko rolls, there is nothing old fashioned about the food. Want brunch? Chef Joshua Nichols uses high quality ingredients and changes the menu weekly to suit what he sources at the markets. Need lunch? The burgers are among the best in town, starting from a $5 classic that can be optioned up into a triple-sized monster. There are also inventively decadent milkshakes (caramel miso, anyone?), excellent coffee, and the breads and sweets - including a Malteser tart - are all baked in-house.
