Middle Eastern$$

You needn't know your Middle Eastern ABC's (arak, bastourma, cumin) to order at this reinvented pizzeria. Sparky, knowledgeable staff happily talk you through the menu - or you can browse the glossary. Dishing up Middle Eastern toppings on chewy Italian-style bases - billed as 'inauthentic pizza' - the menu is split between manoushe, a Lebanese street snack, and boat-shaped Turkish pide. Simple starters kick things off, maybe mini capsicums stuffed with tangy feta, laced with honey and scattered with walnuts, or fresh radish sprinkled with salt and nigella seeds. Pizza names are inspired by famous actors and figures, such as the Omar Sharif, a three-cheese marvel with mint leaves and onions soaked in red-wine vinegar, and the Fairuz, with tomato, haloumi, bastourma and parsley. Side salads add colour and crunch, such as chickpeas in tahini and yoghurt with parsley and almonds. And so does the tavern-style vibe, rowdy and fun, in a black-walled ex-radiator-repair shop. You'll likely hang around for halva, fairy floss or Turkish delight.
