The Napier Hotel

Pub dining$$

One hundred and forty-six years old, and still so fresh. The Napier is an iconic Fitzroy pub, as much a part of history as it is a part of the current zeitgeist. The Napier is ever popular for good-value, honest, seasonal food, with solid veg options. It's hard to go past the old-school beef burger, with a hint of nutmeg, served with spanking coleslaw and fries. Or, for vegos, the Mexican bean burger with avocado, salsa and lime paprika aioli. But the Napier really shows its smarts with kangaroo mains (of which there are three), perhaps a pepper-crusted fillet with bearnaise. Pub entertainment? There's a contemporary arts gallery upstairs.
