The Pie Tin

Contemporary

A meat pie and a beer has been given a hipster zhoosh in this funky, century-old corner store. Yes there’s steak and kidney, but the over-sized, chunky pastry cases are also filled with slow-roasted beef brisket, hickory smoke and mushrooms; roast duck with vegetables; or shredded pork with apple and barbecue sauce, washed down with the local ales by Young Henrys, or wine and decent coffee with banoffee or the outrageously naughty snickers pie for dessert. Line up, pick your pie, add a few salads and/or kumera chips and the national dish is served on a tin baking platter. Tres chic, mate.
