The Pour Kids

Contemporary$$

Don't pity the Pour Kids: they're living large down a side street in Malvern with candy-coloured chairs, stencil-art portraits of little urchins, rocking coffee from Axil and a pun-tastic menu of stylish food, almost all home-made. Breakfast may include pan-fried sardines on toast with haricot-soppressa paste, a luxurious dark-chocolate brioche toasty with spiced cherries and cardamom-infused cream, and the truly wild crumbed and deep-fried poached eggs (aka 'Google this'). Then there are innovative baguettes, bright, seasonal salads and alluring home-made sweets such as chocolate peanut-butter tarts and white rocky road. Service is, fittingly, nice as pie.
