The St Kilda Galleon Cafe

This bustling, bright St Kilda institution is packed with cool locals, young families and backpackers enjoying all-day breakfasts from a long menu that runs from porridge with brown sugar and cinnamon, or sweet potato, basil and feta hash, to the big Drunken Sailor Brekky (eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach). Also an institution is the Galleon beef burger, stacked with a house-made patty, bacon, cheese, beetroot, lettuce, tomato and chutney. For morning kickstarts and late-night recovery there's an excellent Bloody Mary menu. The fitout is an '80s time capsule of Laminex tables and op-shop chairs, and the Di Bella coffees are strong and full-bodied.
