The Willoughby Hotel

13.5/20

The lively, bustling dining room in this landmark pub offers a relaxed alternative to the restaurants around the precinct. The menu is trad and the seating casual. Despite booking in advance, we still had to scrounge together a couple of tables. The pick of our four mains was the pot pie special, a hearty beef offering with browned pastry and a glass of red thrown in for good measure. Pappardelle with oxtail had a tasty reduction, but the other choices - risotto with wild mushrooms and a toasted chicken parmigiana sandwich - were ordinary at best. No desserts, but pleasant vibe and good for a quick feed.
