Two Fingers

Before you ask, those two fingers are on their sides, measuring pours, rather than giving out attitude. Owner Leo Torres is a charming host, and in the bleak stretch of Russell Street next to the Forum Theatre, this tiny red cave is an oasis of conviviality, dishing up full breakfasts (eggs, toasties, a tortilla), sandwiches and wraps, as well as vegetarian options like frittata and cannelloni. Wallpaper flocked with red ferns and scarlet banquettes give a vaguely Edwardian feel that matches the old photographs of Melbourne. The plump Turkish delight is spot-on with your old-school Genovese coffee.
