Umi Kaiten Zushi

Japanese$$

Sushi trains are good fun, but do they serve good sushi? The train at this sleek and shiny venue is unusual in that it goes beyond the usual, branching out with surf clams, soy-glazed wagyu and octopus. Ordering a la carte reaps rewards, too, such as hand rolls of crisp nori filled with warm sushi rice and some of the best, crispest soft-shell crab in Sydney. Made-to-order sashimi comes with a side of real grated wasabi, the salmon fin karaage is crisp and sticky with the fish’s fat and a soy glaze. Look out for specials such as conger eel sushi.
