Union Hotel

13/20

French$$

The Union looks a laid-back, cosy pub, but on big football nights the place really fires up, so it's best to book in advance. Inside, comfy leather seats and a fireplace provide a welcome reprieve on a cold winter's night. There are plenty of options on the menu; the salt-and-pepper prawns are a winner, but a kingfish fillet is average and the scotch fillet a little tough. There's also a popular range of pissaladiere (French-style pizzas) on offer, as well as a burger list. For dessert, a mixed berry tart was fridgy and overpriced. The restaurant upstairs might be more peaceful on livelier nights.
