Want a relaxing, romantic, gentle night out? Then give this frenetic, raucous, louder-than-life Neapolitan diner a wide berth. But if you like a little mayhem with your meal, this could be for you. Born as a pizzeria - based on pizzaiolo Luigi Esposito's famous metre-long slabs of pizza al taglio - what was once a small neighbourhood favourite has become a northside landmark, crammed with families and friends and cross-town blow-ins, all eager for their slice of the pizza action. Like the oil and bread on your table, the antipasti are mostly forgettable - buffalo mozzarella with rocket was under-dressed, involtini of eggplant with prosciutto and ricotta lukewarm and barely cooked. Pizza, on the other hand, is a spectacle. great big puffy-edged slabs either 50 centimetres or a full metre in length, topped with all the True Neapolitan classic combos - from the Napoli with anchovies, olives, capers and fior di latte to a 'white base' (no tomato) with prosciutto, rocket, basil and parmesan.
