Wah Fung HK BBQ Restaurant

Chinese

You’d be forgiven for dissing Wah Fung as an old-school forgettable Chinese eatery… until you try the food. And spy the homemade XO sauce at the counter. As the name suggests, it’s largely about barbecued meats. Gleaming ducks, soy sauce chickens and chunks of pork hang in the window and there’s a constant thwack as they’re deftly dismantled with a cleaver. There’s plenty else on the menu, all served to the polyglot strains of ‘thanks mate’ and ‘m’goi’. Noodle soups, chow meins, rice dishes and the likes all feature along with specials hand-written on the back wall; salt-and-pepper flounder is a knockout.
