Here's one for those who don't like things too obvious or too easy. A factory-lined street, the whooshy sound of spraypainting in the air. A small sign, a red door, a hint of red velvet drapes. Step inside, and it's all naked light globes, muralled walls, church pews and fancy sofas, and boxes of wholesale beans, because this is both coffee roaster and cafe. There's a serious brew bar for siphon and pour-over, and simple tucker such as sweet pastry scrolls to add to your order. As you'd expect from an on-site coffee roaster, a carefully put-together piccolo latte ($3) is fresh-tasting, smooth and bright.
