Expansion in 2012 added a spacious area with bar, booth seating and a communal table to this magnet for hipsters and coffee beards. The kitchen had a makeover, too; so, daily sandwiches (maybe roast chicken with fennel and spicy mayo) are joined by heartier dishes such as scrambled free-range eggs, bacon, potato and cabbage cake and cavolo nero, while the house-baked cannellini and borlotti beans enjoy a smoky paprika lift. There's more room for the Bathysphere coffee roaster out back, too. For more of the same expert brews, and brekkie bagels, visit sister cafe, A Minor Place (103 Albion Street, Brunswick).
