Yee King Noodles

The use of wheat flour, dried chillies and noodles distinguishes the cuisine of northern China, and these elements, along with a hefty dose of oil, offal and preserved egg, star on the menu at Yee King. Misshapen, pasty pork dumplings won’t win any beauty contests but are rich and filling, whereas green onion pancakes are delicate rather than stodgy. Dishes such as deep-fried battered pumpkin tossed with preserved egg are a no go for those watching the waistline, while adventurous eaters are spoilt for choice in the offal department. Try sliced cold pork lungs in chilli sauce, or pigs’ kidneys cut to ‘flower’ on cooking.
