There's an unshakeable charm to Youeni Foodstore. It has a brilliant menu, often personalised by DIY touches (even the butter is made by staff). There are lots of winning aspects - from the daily Surprise Juice to waiters offering blankets on cold days. The food, by chef-owner Chris Starke (formerly of Marque), also rewards map-consulting cafe-seekers hunting down this wallflower-like location. Scrambled eggs with roasted tomatoes and mushrooms is seriously good, while the bacon and egg sarnie will suit early risers, too. Worth sampling also are the lunch options and house-made sweet tarts that court your eye from the counter.
