Zenya Noodle Bar

Japanese$$

This dark, elongated space feels more ‘small bar’ than ‘noodle bar’ but make no mistake: ramen is king. Most of the ramen broths here are shoyu (soy-based). At this price point, others may be inclined to just slosh out some salty, transparent soup, but at Zenya it’s a feature. Theirs is velvety, intricate and just savoury enough to allow the noodles some limelight. Enthusiasts will be pleased that the ramen definitely has ‘bounce’. Mainstream fair is also done tactfully. The eel and chicken teriyaki donburi are subtly sweet, while gyoza and takoyaki sides are created in a signature style.
