Sydney 2015 New Year's Eve: where to get a last minute booking

Wanting to do something special to ring in the New Year, but left booking an event until the last minute? Here are some of the places that still have reservations available.

Abode Bistro & Bar, Parkroyal

New Year's Eve revellers can get truly opulent at Parkroyal Darling Harbour, thanks to the seven-course degustation dinner, paired with premium house spirits, beers and wines at Abode Bistro & Bar. Menu highlights include tea-smoked quail with Sichuan pepper, marjoram, watercress and roasted peppers, and handmade prawn & lobster ravioli with shellfish bisque and salmon pearls. At $450 per person, you can celebrate the New Year in the club lounge with panoramic views of the Darling Harbour fireworks. And for the ultimate indulgence, guests can enjoy freshly shucked oysters and champagne to toast the New Year.

Automata

Why not see out the year at one of Australia's hottest restaurants of 2015? (It sits pretty high at number three on our list.) At Automata, chef Clayton Wells will deliver a ten-course dinner of greatest hits to delight diners. Automata's New Year's Eve menu ($170 per person) features steamed hapuka with cured roe emulsion and seaweed, and a dessert of pumpkin seed ice-cream with tangelo and sea buckthorn. Guests will also have the option of an alcohol pairing for $80 per person, or non-alcoholic pairing for $50.

Henry Deane, Hotel Palisade

Spend your last night of 2015 at one of Sydney's newest bars. The revamped Hotel Palisade's rooftop venue Henry Deane will be hosting a cocktail party. Tickets will set you back $490, but all guests will receive champagne on arrival plus six drinks, roaming morsels and a delicious shared spread of meats and cheeses, seafood towers and an oyster bath. You'll also have views of five different firework displays across Sydney Harbour, The Rocks, Anzac Bridge and Barangaroo Reserve and an international guest DJ Crazy P providing non-stop entertainment.

Kent Street Kitchen, The Langham

A welcome glass of rosé champagne starts the evening, followed by an 8-course dinner with matching wines. At $550 per person, the meal includes calvados corn-fed duck breast with burnt cherry, clove and pistachios, and Gundooee organic wagyu beef with smoked corn, onion jam and mushroom jus. For $650 per person, you can also get exclusive access to the Sydney Observatory's Private Grounds (opposite the Harbour Bridge) for stunning views of the Sydney Harbour fireworks display.

The Glenmore

With sweeping views of Sydney Harbour and the CBD, The Glenmore's rooftop provides a great vantage point to enjoy the New Year's Eve fireworks display. Party the night away with live entertainment and enjoy three hours of food and drinks. At $295 per person, you'll be feasting on canapes such as chorizo and prawn skewers with chimichurri and coriander, and grilled miso lamb cutlets with ginger and sesame. You'll also get a beverage package with a glass of G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge at midnight.

The Italian Kitchen Miranda

The venue will be hosting a four-course feast, with chef Danny Russo serving up Italian classics and modern dishes to keep you full until the 2016 countdown begins. Savour a glass of prosecco on arrival, and a four-course dinner, which stretches from antipasto all the way to tiramisu ($95); the two-course kids meal is priced at $35.

Silvereye

​Silvereye, the first restaurant from former Noma sous chef Sam Miller, will feature a tasting menu of highlight dishes from the year - plus champagne on arrival, as well as either an alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairing for $350 per person.

Otis Bar and Grill, Rydges Campbelltown

For those not wanting to venture into the city, the new Otis Bar and Grill at the Rydges Campbelltown will host a New Year's Eve party with a $69 three-course dinner, welcome drink on arrival, live music, cocktails and craft brews on the new Otis terrace with views of Campbelltown's midnight fireworks. The dinner will feature Schottlanders wagyu beef from the NSW South Coast as well as tapas and oysters. Bookings inside the venue are sold out, but reservations on the terrace are still available.
