Truffle time

Pulp Kitchen in Ainslie is doing its bit for the Canberra and Capital Region Truffle Festival with truffle degustation dinners every Tuesday in July. The menu includes truffle beignets, poached bug tail, infused duck egg, veal cheek and truffled gnocchi, followed by truffled coulommiers with brioche and, of course, chocolate truffles as petit fours. It’s $135 or $180 with matching wines. For bookings, phone 6257 4334 or email info@pulp-kitchen.com.au. With winter firmly entrenched, many of the events on the truffle festival calendar include big feasts or hearty meals. On the weekend, Grazing at Gundaroo is putting on a ‘‘Hunter’s Feast’’ with five courses, including potted wild boar, game birds, slow-roasted hare with a cassoulet of beans and truffle, and braised venison. It’s $100 or $140, with matched wines. They’re also doing a four-course truffle assiette dinner at $70. See grazing.com.au for more. Other events on the truffle horizon include a degustation dinner at Benchmark, a hunt at Blue Frog Truffles in Sutton and lunch at Bredbo. See trufflefestival.com.au for more.
