Anise to be revamped

It's going to be a shock to many regulars to see Anise wine bar boarded up. Part of the New Farm community for the last twelve years, the hole-in-the-wall bar/restaurant has always been a convivial spot for a great glass or two of wine and some French-accented food.
Never fear though, come February 1, it's back to business under new owners Dan Finn and Thames Delaforce. The pair met while working at 1889 Enoteca in Wooloongabba and Dan has been managing Anise for the past year.
When the opportunity came up to buy they thought they would, as Finn says "Give it a crack". Over the break it's going to have a bit of a freshen up but things won't change too drastically on the food or wine fronts, with a strong Euro focus still the go. There'll be around 35 wines by the glass, Finn says, which will change regularly. They'll also be introducing "magnum Mondays" when they'll open a wine and have a 'du jour' menu at around $30-$40.
As yet they haven't finalised the new chef, but watch this space.
