Another addition to Caxton Street

The gentrification of Caxton Street continues apace with Cut Steakhouse being joined by Lefty's Old Time Music Hall and now, a gastro pub.

Statler & Waldorf is scheduled to open in September taking over the space where The Stadium Bar & Grill was. Co-owner Jay Lambert says the name is a reference both to two famous New York hotels and the two old hecklers in The Muppets (the chaps that sit on the balcony).

Lambert is in the drinks business, so presumably no muppet on that front, while business partner Steve McDermott currently runs The Bowery. The chef is Andrew Tolley (currently at Pearl Cafe) who is going to produce a menu of homey and highly seasonal dishes, based on market produce. Seating around 40 inside, there will also be a garden out back for 50 or so, as well as footpath dining. The drinks list will include 10 different beers on tap, some quality mixed drinks and a short but constantly changing wine list.

Lambert says the space doesn't need too much work, just a bit of a clean and some love - it already boasts brick walls and wooden floors, so they're looking forward to opening a couple of weeks after taking over in September.
