An Argentinian-style deli from the food brains behind Bodega and Porteno? Yes, please.

Newtown's Australia Street is already home to Black Star Pastry and the hatted Oscillate Wildly restaurant, now locals are more than a little excited by building work at a site on the strip, where any opening is still at least a couple of months away.

Word is the site is the deli dream of Porteno co-owner Elvis Abrahanowicz.

The chef couldn't be reached as Good Food went to print, but Abrahanowicz has previously confessed his deli love.

Ivan's, in Chester Hill, is a favourite, particularly its cold cuts, tinned fish and roasted pig's head.

The Australia Street property will have seating, and plenty of excited locals.
