Bah, cutlery. Who needs it?

Business partners Con Christopoulos and Josh Brisbane, who have had Ian Curley executive cheffing their Spring Street empire - including the European and City Wine Shop - for the past six years, have decided to jump into a small business together. They've found a shop on the corner of Hardware Lane and Little Bourke Street and are planning a ''casual cafe and wine bar in the short term'', Curley says, ''but, if it goes well, we'll get a gelateria going there, too''. The 60-seater will have a menu ''that doesn't need cutlery'', the chef says, ''just straightforward food''. As for the name of the place, the working title is Hardware Lane Cafe - ''we'll think of something a bit groovier … eventually''. They are looking to open in the next two weeks.
