Balmain's Efendy gets a trendy makeover

With Balmain's Efendy intermittently closed, rumours have been circulating about the future of the innovative Turkish restaurant.

The rub is Efendy is relaunching after Easter, with downstairs remodelled as a meze bar serving Istanbul street food, including ''deboned sheep's head''.

Owner Somer Sivrioglu says the cheap and cheerful meze bar will be decorated in 1970s Turkish film posters. Upstairs will also reopen late next week, sporting a minimalist design and serving more upmarket Turkish cuisine.
