A pop-up wine bar and cellar has opened on Brisbane's Queen Street. Darren Davis was originally one of the partners in Bar Barossa, but was bought out of the business. When the opportunity arose to buy the business outright late last year, Davis jumped at the opportunity and put plans in place to re-open under the original Bar Barossa wine bar concept. However, difficulties with the lease mean he has chosen not to extend it beyond June. Instead, he'll be running the space as a temporary wine bar called The Studio.

"The concept is of a cellar door in the city," Davis says. "We'll be offering free tastings of wine we have open then people can buy a bottle at retail rather than wine bar price."

Unlike a standard wine shop, buyers can choose to drink their purchase at the bar. Davis has been busy culling the bar's extensive wine list that focused on the Barossa region. Food at the pop-up will be restricted to wine friendly charcuterie and cheeseboards. The Studio will run until the lease expires in June.

Details: The Studio, 545 Queen Street, Brisbane.
