Barbecue for the homeless

Grant "The Polite Guy" Richards is a former chef who fell down on his luck after an accident and lengthy hospital stay. He went on to become a Big Issue seller and now helps others who find themselves in a similar situation with a decent meal through regular barbecues for the homeless. Joining him behind the burners for the next barbecue is Dalton Catering's Jerome Dalton and his crew.

Along with free advice from the volunteer doctors and lawyers on hand, there will be heaps of food, including sausages, braises, salads, bread, fruit and freshly squeezed juices, as well as free clothing, sanitary and toiletry items and more.

According to Richards as many as 1000 people are expected to turn up. The next barbecue is in Brown's Park in Ipswich on Sunday, April 28. If you'd like to volunteer or donate good quality clothing or blankets, contact Richards on 0412 190 011 or just turn up on the day from 9am.
