Rushcutters Bay mega-restaurant Neild Avenue has created as much industry chatter in recent times as it did at the time of its glamour opening with Maurice Terzini and Rob Marchetti at the helm.

Marchetti kept Neild when the duo split their hospitality assets last year, and in recent weeks a who's who of restaurant figures have been eyeing the venue. The owners of Quay restaurant and Merivale both confirmed they had a serious goosey gander at Neild. And the teams behind Pelicano at Double Bay and The Island have also been mentioned.

Marchetti says he hasn't put the restaurant on the market.

''They approached me,'' he says. ''I've had two offers and both weren't enough.''
