Tomi Bjorck was a rising star in the kitchen at Quay and Longrain before returning to Finland where he has become a local celebrity, opening a string of the hottest venues in Helsinki, starring as a judge on MasterChef Finland and picking up consultancy gigs with airlines and cruise ships. But word is the surf-loving chef can't get Bondi out of his head and is relocating back to Sydney with plans to add a Sydney restaurant to the empire. A quick read of the Finish financial press suggests Bjorck probably won't require backers. With a handful of restaurants in Finland, including the modern-Asian Farang which has opened a branch in Stockholm, recent accounts show the restaurants had a turnover of €10.4 million. We tracked Bjorck down and the chef confirmed he will move back to Sydney with his family in November. The restaurant magnate was coy on his restaurant plans: "I don't wanna [sic] share too much information yet."
