Bondi Beach's seemingly insatiable appetite for new restaurants has picked up where it left off in 2013, Maurice Terzini swinging open the doors over the weekend at Da Orazio Pizza + Porcetta, the newest in a rash of eateries at the former site of the Hakoah Club on Hall Street.
The development is already home to A Tavola Bondi, and will soon welcome China Diner.
Bondi loves new, but there's still plenty of love for the suburb's stalwarts and chat on the promenade last week focused not on Terzini's new pizzeria, rather his 10-year-old Icebergs Dining Room And Bar.
Key Icebergs suppliers have been told the restaurant will welcome a new executive chef mid-February, former Becasse head chef Monty Koludrovic.
While Becasse crashed at Westfield Sydney, Koludrovic's career has continued to bloom, the chef fronting the MasterChef pop-up restaurant and spending this summer as guest chef at Byron Bay's Beach Hotel.
Terzini was unavailable for comment, Icebergs staff saying the restaurateur was under the pump opening Da Orazio. But Koludrovic's signing would be another good get for Terzini, who last year snared Melbourne chef Paul Wilson as group culinary director.
