Prized seafood venue Bondi's Best is poised to join the party at Barangaroo. "Yes, we are close to signing," says owner-chef Joel Best of rumours he'll be among the openings at the development. Best is set to join a list that already includes Vanessa Martin's Mercato e Cucina and a monster venue involving Aria's Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan.

"The [Barangaroo] location works really well for seafood, it's the perfect piece in the puzzle," Best says.

The former Pier chef has been on the expansion trail recently. After operating a low-key seafood eatery for several years, popular with the North Bondi glitterati, late last month he opened a second outlet of Bondi's Best, next door to Maurice Terzini's Da Orazio pizzeria in the Hall Street development.

The seafood restaurant is a step up, design firm TomMarkHenry crafting an interior with a feature ceiling using the design material of 2015: rope. And the seafood is some of the best in town.
