To borrow a television phrase, has Sydney's burger craze jumped the shark?

The idea of a gimmick representing a turning point springs to mind with Adriano Zumbo's introduction of a pie topped with a burger bun.

A Zumbo insider revealed the pie fill includes beetroot, egg and cheese. Rest up burger purists, it was created for Australia Day celebrations and is already past tense at Zumbo, despite big sales.

But it does make you question the lengths the craze has travelled. Zumbo is already one step ahead of the curve, having toyed with a cheeseburger macaron.

But Sydneysiders will have to wait, the macaron isn't available commercially – yet.
