It's already pretty full on Sydney's burger bus, and a new project from a couple of collaborating local burger stars and the arrival of a Noosa burger start-up is set to make it standing-room only. Sydney burger king Jovan Curic from Ultimo's Pub Life Kitchen and Peter Lew, owner of Barrio Cellar in the CBD, have teamed up to open a new summer burger shack this Friday at Deus Ex Machina on Parramatta Road.

"Jovan does a great burger, and ours has a bit of a Mexican twist with jalapeno," Lew says. "We're going to build a completely new burger together. It's a two-month pop-up at this stage and we might even open at nights when we get settled."

Word is also spreading in burger circles that Noosa's well-reviewed Betty's Burgers is eyeing a Sydney launch next year in a laneway near Ivy in the CBD. "We have looked at sites [in Sydney] but nothing has been signed," a spokeswoman for Betty's Burgers told Good Food.
