Fresh from signing ex-Claude's chef Chui Lee Luk as its creative director, artisan baker-cafe Luxe has gone on the expansion trail, signing on at Barangaroo.

Luxe confirmed rumours it will open a new outlet at the massive waterside development.

Also Barangaroo bound is Marrickville's Coffee Alchemy. Co-owner Hazel de los Reyes – who has been roasting since 2003, adding an espresso bar in 2008 – says the reason behind opening a Barangaroo branch is simple.

"We're still working out exactly what we'll do there. But I looked around at the people going in [at Barangaroo] and I thought 'I'd want to be buying their produce and eating at their restaurants' so it seems right to be a part of it," she says.
