English TV chef Tom Kime has closed his experimental Kings Cross Road restaurant Ceru. Its four-month run was short, even in a city where new restaurant life expectancy is short. Kime, who has written five books and presented his own TV series in Britain, says the business needed more "investment" and he had "no other option" than to call it a day. .

"The site had such a chequered past I called in a feng shui master," Kime told Good Food before Ceru's launch in late January this year. Not surprisingly, the redesign and build was complex.

"It's not going to get reborn," he says of Ceru. "I'm going to lose a lot of money, but my commitment is to creditors. I'm working incredibly hard to make sure everyone is paid."
