Sydney's inner west is tipped to be the winner in the looming departure of Rockpool graduate Simon Zalloua from Sefa restaurant in Bondi.

The Lebanese-Australian chef confirmed he will leave Sefa in mid-July.

"I'm leaving on great terms, but thought it was time for a break and a new challenge," he says.

While a prized inner-west venue is tipped to secure his services, Zalloua says he is weighing up a couple of offers.

"I'm heading to the US and Mexico to take a look at things. I might even come back and decide to cook something different to the [Middle Eastern] food I was doing at Sefa," he says.
