Two years after she closed Universal, Chris Manfield is getting back behind the burners in a restaurant kitchen.

You'd better be quick though because Manfield's tenure at Berta, in Surry Hills, starts on April 28 and ends six weeks later.

It'll be two chefs for the price of one, with Berta owner Andrew Cibej confirming he's hired a head chef to replace Chui Lee Luk who departed the restaurant this month.

Jamie Irving, who worked for six years under Peter Doyle at est and was most recently head chef at the short-lived Rushcutters, says he's looking forward to collaborating with Manfield.

"She has that passion and joy in the kitchen. I'm sure there's a lot to learn from her knowledge and craft," he says.
