Joggers, cyclists and commuters can refuel at a new pit-stop on the Bay Run at Iron Cove with the arrival of a new coffee spot.

The UTS Haberfield Rowing Club has opened a kiosk the southern end of the bay, along the City West Link. The outlet is part of a sleek $8 million redevelopment of the site, which includes a restaurant upstairs.

The Kiosk on the Run, which opened in April after more than 12 months of redevelopment, includes a small sit-down area overlooking the water and focuses on refreshments. It serves Org coffee and cool drinks as well as pastries, bacon and egg rolls and toasted sandwiches.

"It’s a grab-and-go spot – somewhere people can grab something and keep on going," the club’s general manager, Damien Phelps, says.

"There’s nowhere else along the road people can stop in and grab something light, warm and toasty on their way to work of a morning."

Upstairs, the Haberfield Club Restaurant serves up-market club food with a focus on fresh seafood. Big sellers include the pan-seared snapper and crispy-skinned salmon.

"We want to reflect the fact we have beautiful views over the water," Phelps says.

"We don’t do schnitzels and steak and chips. We’re trying to provide a point of difference to normal club food."

The site, which is leased by the University of Technology, Sydney’s union ActivateUTS and governed by Ashfield Council and Roads and Maritime Services, also includes a training area and deck for rowers.
